THE SALE IS FOR A NEW COPY- THE ONE PICTURED IS MY COPY

Simonds manufactured handsaws between the early 1900’s and 1926. Ads showing a very early looking version of the Disston No. 9 date back to 1903. The company made saws for about 25 years and in that time became one of the most popular maker rivaling Disston for sales in the mid 1900's.

All Simonds used Warranted Special Crucible Steel, Simonds Patented Temper, and are taper ground. Simonds did not make distinctions between cast steel, refined cast steel, London spring steel, extra refined London spring steel, etc., like Disston did, but clearly the more expensive saws, like "Blue Ribbon”, used a higher quality steel than the cheaper saws. The Catalog includes catalogs, saws, saw blades, files, saw sets, swages, saw jointers, speed indicators, cane knives, machine knives, etc.

The sale is for a new copy. I have sold some used copies in the past but recently picked up some new old stock. They were stored on shelve by the publisher.
